The territory of inactive volcanoes...

There is no other territory like it on the continent. Its forty volcanic cones, 10 craters, and more than 20 basaltic lava flows have turned the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of Garrotxa into the best example of the volcanic landscape in the Iberian territory. This extensive territory of inactive volcanoes is a haven of lush vegetation and dense, humid forests. A unique paradise of nature that can be explored through its 28 itineraries and a myriad of activities.

The best example of the volcanic landscape of the Iberian Peninsula boasts 28 itineraries and activities like horse-drawn carriages!

Vegetation and volcanoes

Red, green, black, or purple make up the color palette of this natural park, declared in 1982, which resembles a lunar landscape. The Volcanic Zone of Garrotxa covers 15,309 hectares of oaks, oaks, and beech forests, but also areas such as the beech forest in Jordà, a natural reserve of beech forest that in autumn is dressed in ochre, yellow, and red. From its volcanoes - all visitable - the most spectacular and curious are Santa Margarita - with a hermitage inside - and croscat - with a huge slice of pizza to share.

About thirty routes

One of the best things about this volcanic site is that it offers about thirty routes, most of which are marked, to discover all its corners. In addition, the itineraries of the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of Garrotxa often connect with those of the Itinerannia network. Therefore, you can access any point in Garrotxa, Ripollés, or Alt Ampurdán through Itinerannia.
